5 Quick Questions: Ryan Mueller

We are excited to feature Ryan Mueller, Dairyland Seed Product Portfolio and Agronomy Leader, for our last edition of 5 Quick Questions! Ryan has been with Dairyland Seed since 1995 and has been involved in product development and selection, working on both the research and commercial sides of the business. While working in research, Ryan was instrumental in the development of Dairyland Seed’s HiDF corn silage research program as well as the HiDF farm strip plot testing program. Ryan currently leads the team of Dairyland Seed regional agronomists, and he also focuses on the lifecycle, supply and forecast of Dairyland Seed’s crop portfolios.

How did you first get involved in agriculture?

I started working for Dairyland Seed at their Clinton, Wisconsin, research station when I was 13 years old.

How have your degrees in history and psychology helped you as an agronomist?

I came into this industry with no preconceived ideas, which forced me to be creative and flexible. I had to learn everything in the wild.

What is your favorite part about the job?

Easy question – leading a really talented and hardworking team of agronomists and product managers.

What has you most excited about 2024 Dairyland Seed lineup?

Seeing how the portfolio continues to perform. I feel like we can really fine-tune product placement and I believe we are positioned to be industry leaders in our geographic area.

What piece of advice do you have for farmers right now?

First, thank you for everything that you do! Second, continue to evolve your operation. Third, be safe.
