Meet the Dairyland Seed Family - Lea Breuer

BY Dairyland Seed

Lea Breuer is the Office Manager for the Dairyland Seed Western Customer Service Center in Mt. Hope, Wisconsin.

Lea wears “multiple hats” with her daily activities varying from assisting with the corn supply, quality and Avipel® order process to Mt. Hope payables to EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) responsibilities.

In June Lea will celebrate 13 years with the Dairyland Seed family. Her earlier roles included Customer Service, Order Entry, and Payroll. She was previously employed as a Payroll & HR Supervisor at the Gordon Flesch Company.

“I really enjoy who I work with and having the opportunity to work on different projects,” Lea says. “I enjoy learning the different areas of the business.”
Agriculture and the seed corn industry have played a significant role in her life. Her dad was the Production Manager at Pride Seed Company and Golden Harvest. Summers were spent detasseling corn – which was not her favorite job!

“I believe there is something truly wholesome about being a part of the ag industry, both personally and professionally. The hard work, time, and effort that goes into farming is something that not everyone in the population understands, but everyone I work with at Dairyland understands that from employees to our customers,” says Lea.

In 2020, Lea accepted the Dairyland Seed Team Impact Award recognizing her excellence in supporting the business and customers, high level of dedication to the company, ongoing attitude of Team/Company before I, and assisting in duties outside the defined job function.

“Lea always goes the extra mile to support all functions and customers. She does a great job with all her activities and supports many of our staff members and is willing to help out whenever and wherever needed,” says Kim Mayne, Operations Leader. He adds, “She has also taken a lead role with the implementation of SeedWare. Lea’s dedication, can-do and friendly attitude, taking on and learning new roles, and willingness to help out all departments is greatly appreciated by everyone.”

She and her husband Matt purchased his family farm outside of Cassville, WI. With Lea working full time at the office and Matt working full time as a Dairyland Seed truck driver, operating the farm is truly a family endeavor. With the help of their three children, Jake, Ruby, and Jared, they raise calves, steers, corn, soybeans, and alfalfa.

A favorite family time weekend includes the family and two dogs (Bubba & Finney) on their UTVs as they explore the county and township roads. Plans are in the works for a 2022 trip to visit Wisconsin’s Door County for the first time.

Lea is a graduate of UW-Platteville with a BS in Business Administration. She was a nine-year member of the local school board, treasurer of the local school district’s Music Booster Club, and currently serves as the Treasurer of her Township.
