Meet the Dairyland Seed Family - Guy Teske

BY Dairyland Seed

Guy Teske is a truck driver based at the West Bend, Wis., headquarters. His daily truck routes vary by season. In the fall he transports seed from the production facilities and hauls soybeans from local growers into our plants. Transitioning to winter, Guy delivers seed to customers and dealers as well as outside shipping warehouses throughout the Midwest. After planting season, Guy picks up returns and empty boxes.

“I always looked forward to my one trip every fall picking up alfalfa from our production facility in Homedale, Idaho,” says Guy.

He then admits, “Also, truthfully, I always like the challenge of driving in a large snowstorm.”

November will mark Guy’s tenth anniversary with Dairyland Seed. Before joining the company, Guy was the owner/operator of Guy Teske Trucking. For 16 years he hauled various commodities and during the last 11 years he was leased to J&J Baumhardt Trucking in Eden, Wis., where he hauled Dairyland Seed during the shipping season. Guy received his Truck Driving diploma from Fox Valley Tech College in Appleton, Wis.

While many might find life on the road to be lonely, Guy finds it exciting as he has the opportunity to travel throughout the Midwest meeting new customers and catching up with current long-time customers, dealers and DSMs during every shipping and return season. Guy has a passion for equipment and machinery and relishes the opportunity to see the variety of ways our customers farm along with the many diverse types of large machinery.

His grandparents’ dairy farm in Alaska, Wis., has been in the family since 1864 and has passed down through the generations. Growing up on a farm with fields of Dairyland Seed alfalfa, corn, soybeans, as well as wheat and oats, Guy helped out every opportunity available and often rode along in the truck while his father picked up milk or hauled cheese. At an early age his father taught him how to operate farm machinery and drive commercial trucks.

Guy has a passion for vehicles and motorsports and spends time in his shop working on project vehicles from snowmobiles to ATVs to completely rebuilding a 4x4 pickup truck for his son.

In the mid-90s, Guy was on a race team driving semi for Rob MacCachren Motorsports out of Las Vegas, Nev., hauling an offroad race truck when he had the opportunity of a lifetime to meet NASCAR driver Jimmy Johnson who at the time was racing an off-road race truck for Herzog Motorsports.

Guy fulfilled a dream for his Uncle Roger Teske by helping build a track allowing his uncle to host annual pulls on his farm until his passing seven years ago. As Roger Teske was an avid tractor puller, family and friends worked together to host an annual Memorial Truck and Tractor Pull with profits donated to ag programs at three high schools in Kewaunee County.

Weekends are filled with fun, family and friends from riding ATVs to snowmobiling. When Guy and his children aren’t competing in tractor pulling, they attend pulls and races in the area. On the beautiful Wisconsin weekends, Guy and his wife ride the countryside on his Harley Davidson.

Guy resides in DePere, WI, with his wife Sarah, and their three children Tommy, Gabe, Maria, and their dog Jimmy.
