WATCH: Do Water Temperatures Correlate with Soil Temperatures? – Part Two

BY DAIRYLAND SEED

In this video Brian Weller, Dairyland Seed western region agronomist, records soil temperatures to see if they correlate with regional water temperatures and he also looks at current frost levels. As of March 23, soil temperatures at 2 and 8 inches deep were around 28 degrees F. After digging a hole 19 inches deep, he reveals frost is only present within the first two inches, which indicates we are getting closer to the frost being out.  Learn more about ice-out dates and spring preparation from Part One and Part Three of this video series.
