Agronomy Update: The Dairyland Seed Agronomy Team Wishes You a Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s “Thanksgiving Week.” For many of you, harvest has wrapped up. For others, there is a long way to go. For nearly everyone in my area, it is safe to say that “this has been a most challenging year.” Beyond harvest, we mark another year in family and community life. For many, this time of year is filled with family, food, and fun. For others, there has been loss this year, and there may be a big empty spot at the Thanksgiving table.
Pastor Terri recently talked about an “attitude of gratitude” in this season and always. That’s not a new phrase, but it was good to hear it again. She reminded us that, whatever our circumstances may be, that we are cared for and watched over. I will readily admit, it is much easier to be grateful when things are going well than when I hit the tough times. I was again reminded to keep an attitude of gratefulness in all things, and I will strive to do that.
Whatever your situation, I want to take this opportunity to wish you a good and grateful Thanksgiving and following holiday season. I appreciate the opportunity to work with you and am especially grateful for your friendship.

This week begins the holiday season and a chance to reflect on those important aspects of life. Take a few moments to give thanks for those aspects and appreciate them. Too many times we focus on the minutia of things that are not as we would like and lose focus on the bounty we have of as a whole.
I am aware of a quote from Alvin Law who said, “What we have is more important than what we don’t.” Now look at that close. It is not the “things” we have, but rather what we have such as health, our family a warm home, food on the table, etc. In Alvin’s case, he has no arms, but he has not focused on what he doesn’t have, but more importantly what he does have. So, let’s give thanks and truly appreciate that which has been given us this week. Enjoy time with friends and family and most certainly indulge in the bounty of our nation’s farmers and ranchers. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and give thanks for all that we have, family, friends, and the best career and lifestyle on earth.
Hopefully you will be able to take some time off on Thanksgiving Day to celebrate. As patience in harvesting the 2019 crop wears thin, be safe out there. Happy Thanksgiving!

Coming into Dairyland Seed, I was drawn to the family culture that permeates every aspect of this company. The relationships that I see in this organization go far beyond the colleague to colleague and sales to customer interactions that are so common in this world. Anyone who has experienced it knows that it's Dairyland’s “special sauce.” It has made for a great experience during my first year with the Northern Region and for that I am thankful.
Though my experience has been positive, I could not have joined in a more challenging year! 2019 is certainly one that will be talked about for a long time. As I wish each of you a happy holiday season and a hearty ending to 2019, I would like to share a prayer that I recently heard and I know will resonate with everyone. It’s called the serenity prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Here’s to 2020!

As we enter the Thanksgiving season, it appears that harvest in portions of Dairyland Seed’s Western Region is much like the ice on this lake, on again and off again.
Regardless of how harvest is progressing for you, please have a Happy Thanksgiving.
