RETIREMENT DATE SET FOR ROD KING

Rod King has officially announced that he will be retiring effective April 9, 2021, after a 35-year career in agriculture. Rod has been a significant member of our Agronomy Team covering parts of Indiana and Michigan and has spent his last 15 years as part of the Dairyland Seed/Brodbeck Seeds team.

Rod is passionate about agriculture and played an important role in the Agronomy Team. He was fiercely loyal to the customers/dealers that he represented and never stopped advocating on their behalf. Rod was responsible for the coordination of the weekly Agronomy Zoom Calls in the Indiana/Michigan area this past spring.

Rod’s energy and enthusiasm will be missed.  Best wishes to Rod and his wife Sandra in his retirement!

WELCOME AMANDA GOFFNETT

We are excited to introduce Amanda Goffnett as the Dairyland Seed Eastern Regional Agronomist replacing the recently retired Terry Jones.  Her primary responsibilities include providing agronomic services for District Sales Managers, customers, dealers and prospects.  Additionally, she is involved with product advancements and product training.

After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Crop and Soil Sciences with a specialization in Agribusiness Management from Michigan State University, she then earned her Master of Science in Crop and Soil Sciences and then became a Certified Crop Advisor.

Amanda was raised on a small family farm in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, where she still farms with her dad today. When she’s not in the field she enjoys hiking, kayaking and fishing in Northern Michigan.

She’s ready to hit the ground running and is looking forward to planting season so she can meet many of you!

  • Crop Bulletin: Nitrogen Fertilizers and Stabilizers for Corn Production
Nitrogen (N) fertilizer is a critical input in corn production. One of the most challenging aspects of successfully managing nitrogen is the fact that nitrogen from fertilizer can be lost from the soil before the corn crop is able to take it up. Under prolonged wet field conditions and warm temperatures, nitrogen can be lost either by leaching – the downward movement of nitrates below the root zone, or denitrification – loss to the atmosphere caused by reactions in the soil under anaerobic conditions.
