2024 Silage Performance Summary Now Available

BY Dairyland Seed Agronomy Team

As the seed industry continues to evolve, there seems to be less emphasis on researching and providing corn hybrids that perform well for silage. For Dairyland Seed, however, silage continues to be very important for our customers, thus it is a major part of our corn portfolio.  It is important enough that we offer a portfolio containing three different silage segments containing Bovalta BMR hybrids, HiDF silage hybrids, and dual-purpose silage/grain hybrids.

One of the best tools we have to set ourselves apart in the industry is our silage strip plot program. Each year, we put our money where our mouth is, and set out to prove that we have an industry leading silage portfolio. We do this using data generated from on farm strip trials in real life conditions. In 2024, despite a challenging planting and growing season, we were able to gather data from 361 plot replications across seven states.  Although the crop was more variable at harvest than in past years, the data generated shows consistently good performance in both yield and quality metrics.
