2021 Shipping Season - Trucks Are On The Move

BY LARRY STERR, DAIRYLAND SEED LOGISTICS LEADER

The 2021 shipping season is underway and the Distribution Department is ready to assist with anything you need when it comes to receiving your seed order.

We started shipping loads out last month for the upcoming season and would like to take the opportunity to schedule your order. The sooner you take delivery of your order, the more likely you are to receive exactly what you ordered at the beginning of the year as we have a good stock of seed in all warehouse locations. Call your Distribution Coordinator today to schedule your seed delivery.

As the Distribution Department schedules your trucks for delivery, you will receive an initial phone call to inform you of the date and time of delivery. The truck driver will also call you a day ahead of your delivery.

Should a last-minute problem should occur (weather, appointments, etc.), you will receive a phone call to inform you of any adjustments to your delivery date.

If you experience any problems throughout the year with your deliveries, please email me at lster@dairylandseed.com or call my cell at 262-707-7530. Thank you and have a safe, successful season.

A common question among growers is whether they should consider switching some of their full-season hybrids to shorter-maturity hybrids, and if so, how soon? The short answer to that question is no, it’s still a little early to consider switching hybrids. Although delayed planting shortens the growing season, the main driver is still growing degree units (GDUs) for the plant to reach physiological maturity before a killing frost.
