This 5 Quick Questions feature highlights another one of our talented District Sales Managers. His agriculture roots run deep, and he’s been a Dairyland Seed team member since 2010. Get to know a little more about District Sales Manager Chad Birchem.
What area/region do you serve?
My region is West Central Minnesota, the southeast corner of North Dakota and northeast corner of South Dakota.
How and when did you first get involved in agriculture?
I’ve been involved in agriculture all my life. I grew up on my family farm in northeast South Dakota and then attended North Dakota State College of Science. In 2005, I started working as an agronomist in Herman, Minnesota, and started with Dairyland Seed in 2010.
What’s your favorite part about working with Dairyland Seed?
My favorite part of working at Dairyland Seed is the family atmosphere and the friendships that I have developed over the years. Dairyland Seed has the best co-workers!
What’s your prediction for the growing season in your area?
We’re starting out on the dry side, but it can change very fast! It looks like we are going to get an early start. It can be fast paced, so you definitely need to be aware of your surroundings and stay safe. Everyone in this field puts in long days.
Any planting advice for 2024?
We only get one chance of planting correctly. Make sure the planting depth and spacing is right.
